How I Work
I write and produce original music tailored specifically to your campaign, brand, and story.
You’re getting:
Custom composition (melody, harmony, structure)
Full production, sound design, and mix/master
Multiple length versions (:60, :30, :15/:10, :06)
Clean, simple licensing so you know exactly how you can use the music
We’ll start with a Creative Music Brief, then I’ll deliver exploratory demos, and once you choose a direction, I’ll build out the final masters and cutdowns.
Typical Fee Structure
Every project is different in scope, but most campaigns follow a similar structure.
The exact numbers may change based on deliverables, languages, and usage—but the framework stays the same.
1. Exploratory Demos
I usually begin with multiple demo directions (often 3 per song idea) so you and your team can react to tone, energy, and concept.
Fixed fee per demo
You choose your favorite direction
If none of the first demos feel right (rare, but it happens), I can generate additional directions and we agree on any added cost before I proceed
This phase gives you creative options without committing to a final track yet.
2. Final Master (Primary Version)
Once a direction is approved, I:
Refine the composition and arrangement
Produce, mix, and master the primary version (e.g., ~1:00)
Deliver high-quality 24-bit/48k WAV plus multitrack stems
This is the “hero” version of the track that everything else is built from.
3. Cutdown Edits (:30, :15/:10, :06)
From the primary master, I create shorter versions that work for different placements:
:30
:15 or :10–15
:06 tag
These can either be:
Flat fee per edit, or
Bundled into a cutdown package
You can also choose to have your editor cut from stems instead—whatever best fits your workflow.
4. Additional Languages (Optional)
If you need the music in other languages (for example, Spanish or Portuguese):
I adapt the lyrics so they sing naturally in that language
Hire and record native vocalists
Mix and master language-specific versions
Deliver the same set of durations (e.g., 1:00, :30, :15/:10, :06) per language
Each language version is priced per song, per language, and includes all vocal, studio, and post-production costs.
Note: Final pricing is always customized to your campaign scope. I’ll provide a clear written estimate before we start.
How Licensing Works
I keep licensing as straightforward as possible.
There are two main options:
Option 1: Campaign License (Most Common)
This is the default structure for many clients.
You get:
A broad license to use the music for a specific campaign
In agreed media (e.g., digital/online: YouTube, social, paid digital ads, etc.)
For a defined term (e.g., up to 12 months from first use)
In an agreed territory (e.g., worldwide)
I retain ownership of:
The composition (the song itself)
The master recording (the actual audio files)
You don’t have to deal with ongoing sync/master fees for that campaign—everything is built into the agreed project fee for the defined scope.
If later you want to extend the campaign (longer term, more media, new uses), we can simply update the license and fee.
Option 2: Perpetual Buyout (Royalty-Free Forever)
Sometimes a brand wants to use the music beyond a single campaign or keep it in their library indefinitely.
In that case, we can switch to a perpetual buyout model:
You pay a higher one-time fee (the buyout fee)
In return, you receive a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use the track (and any language versions included) across campaigns, in the agreed media
I still remain the composer of record (so I can register the work with a PRO to collect any performance royalties that arise from broadcast/streaming), but:
You do not owe any additional sync or master use fees
You can use the track without renewals or re-licensing for the scope we agree
The Agreement
To keep everything clear and professional, I use a Custom Music Services & License Agreement that covers:
The scope of work & deliverables (Exhibit A)
The fees & payment terms (Exhibit B)
The rights you receive (campaign license or buyout)
Ownership, credits, warranties, and all the usual legal housekeeping
A few key points:
The agreement combines both the composition (sync) and master (recording) rights in one document
You’ll always see exactly what you’re paying for and how you can use the music
Once signed and paid per the terms, you are fully cleared to use the music within that agreed scope
If your legal or procurement team prefers specific language, I’m happy to work with them to align formats while preserving the core terms we’ve agreed on.
Typical Project Flow
Intro Call / Emails
We align on goals, timeline, and rough scope.Creative Music Brief
You (or your agency) fill out a short online brief outlining references, brand tone, messaging, and deliverables.Estimate & Agreement
I provide a written estimate with clear pricing for demos, final masters, cutdowns, and any language versions.
Once approved, we sign the Custom Music Services & License Agreement.Exploratory Demos
I deliver streamed demos via a secure online audio deck, plus downloadable low-res MP3s for internal review.Direction Selected & Revisions
You choose a direction; I refine it within the agreed revision rounds.Final Masters & Stems
I deliver 24-bit/48k WAV files, plus stems and cutdowns via secure download or shared drive.Usage & Beyond
You run your campaign under the agreed license.
If later you’d like to extend usage or upgrade to a buyout, we can easily amend the license and fee.
Questions or Custom Needs?
Every campaign is a little different—media plans evolve, territories change, and sometimes a track takes on a life of its own.
If you have:
A unique media plan
Multiple brands under one umbrella
Complex territories or long-term usage in mind
…I’m happy to talk through it and adapt the structure so it’s fair, clear, and works for everyone.
You can reach me at [your email], or we can set up a quick call to talk through your project.
